 The institution of court originated in India since the passage of Regulatory Act of 1773 by which Supreme Court was established. Later with the passage of High Court Act, High Court was established during the British Rule. In the judicial hierarchy of India, High Court stands in between the apex court that is Supreme Court and the above the subordinate courts. Indian Constitution specifies out the details of composition, jurisdiction, functioning of the High Court in Part Six from Article 214 to Article 231.
